Como Zoo

Aaron had last thursday off from work and we decided it was time for us to to finally take our first trip to Como Zoo this summer. Well it just happened to be one so far of the hotest days of the year. But of course we had been talking about it all week long and Dakota DID NOT want to go swimming in the pool instead.

So what good parents we are we kept our word and took him down to the zoo. What a blast we had, 5 hours of fun. Which is pretty good since Como is not a very big zoo, but I want to say we saw all the animals at least twice, and to much of our dismay the Polar bears are getting a new home built and it won't open until May of 2010. So that was a little disappointing for us, but we can't wait for the exhitbit to open.

At one end of the zoo they have some kiddie rides and games which of course Dakota wants to do. So we let him ride a couple of rides and the best part is they had a mist area that you could stand under. KK loved it, Aaron would hold him up and let the mist just get him in the head and he would laugh and smile.

Dakota loved to play in the play area, which has a couple of big slides and some area to play in the rocks which you can climb on. Which I think would explain why we spent 5 hours at Como. Once it was time to go Dakota was tried and of course fall asleep by the time we left the parking lot. What a day we had.

This is what happens when I am not looking!

So I decide that we were going to be staying home on Sunday instead of going to my parents house for dinner, Dakota has been out every night this week and he just needed a day at home! I was trying trying to get dinner ready and make sure KK was doing ok as well. I turned around to see why Dakota was so quite and well he had found the bottle of sunscreen in the pool bag that is out on the pourch. Needless to say we now are in need of another bottle of sunscreen.

As I stood there watching him lotion himself up I had two trains of thought. One I could get made at him and tell him it was not a good idea or Two Laugh and take a picture and say it's a learning experience for the both of us!

I choose the second thought, Life is way to short to always being upset at him. I need to sometimes take a step back and remember he is only 2 and if I put something in his reach most likely it's going taken.

Kingston can roll over!

It is a big milestone for this little guy. KK has been trying for the past couple of days to roll over and he finally did it. I was told by Aaron that in the mornings while he is doing his home work KK has been practising it. I was total amazed that he actually rolled to his tummy, he is only 3 1/2 months old. Why can't they just stay little for a little longer.
He was so proud of himself, he didn't know what to do. So we looked around and stayed on his tummy for about 10 minutes and than let me know he was done.

The Hawks are coming home!

I have a really good news to share with everyone. Tara and Scott are moving back to Minnesota. Yes that is right, Scott the job! It's the best news in the world right now. All I can do is prayer to Heavenly Father and Thank him for this answer to our prayers.
We dont' know when they are moving back but it will be soon. We now will be able to help out with the twins when they come!

Father Day!

Happy Father's Day to all you fathers! I had been trying to figure out what to give Aaron for Father's day. I finally was surfing the net when I came across this site that makes neck ties with pictures on it. That was it I upload two different pictures of the boys and had them put on a tie for Aaron. He loves them. The best part is that he can wear them at work.

We had brunch with my Dad, Eli and Ashley Sunday morning before Aaron had to head to work. Than we were off to Pa's house for the rest of the day. We had a great time grilling and spending the rest of Father's day with Pa!

Summer Fun

Ok as many of you know being a mother is not always the easiest thing in the world, now is it. Dakota seems to be pushing every button of mine lately and is waiting to see if he will get a time out or not. Let's just say that he gets his share of time outs.

We are trying to teach him it's not ok to hit, yell at his cousins. I feel so bad for Haleigh for most of the time he is getting made at her and than she gets yelled at. We started our morning off with a time out in his room and than it was time to change his diaper. We had been doing so good with getting his diaper changed and than Kingston was born and we had to start all over again. Well I finally told Kodi that I am the Mom and what I say goes. And he is not going to be ruling our house hold any more. Well it's been a trying week but I am sticking to my guns.

Yesterday was another great and fun day for us. Aaron is on the night shift and so that leaves me to put the kids mainly Dakota to bed since Kingston will go sleep on his own. We have been planing to go swimming at the pool but it's been kind of cold and the pool doesn't open until noon during the week which totally puts a cramp in our thinking for the morning. Since Aaron doesn't have to be to work until 2:30 we were going to take the kids to the pool in the morning until 1:30ish when Aaron has to get ready for work, but now that the pool doesn't open until later it's going to be a short day for us in the water. But it will still be fun!

Dakota has been growing and having a lot of fun playing with his barn animals. During our outting he loves to watch one of two movies Barnyard or Authur's Missing Pal. I can quote both in my sleep. My parents have been a saving grace for me at night. I am usually over at their house at least 3 times a week. Last night we ended up at their house around 8 pm and stayed until 10 which was pretty late for the boys. Kodi loves seeing Grandma and Pa and being with them. He plays great in the play and I really think he loves having all the toys to his self.

We are getting ready for Melissa's graduation party which is on Saturday, so Mom and Pa finished Mom's new office and it's ready for the furniture for it. Last night I helped Pa put up the shelves in the new office and than we measured the desks to see if they will fit in the office. I hope so!

It's been a very stressful past couple of days for our family. We are waiting to hear if Scott and Tara will be moving back. There is an opening here on the Minnesota team. Scott had an interview on Friday and now we have to wait until Thursday of this week to hear back. We have been praying that he will get the job and be moving back. I don't know how many of you know that they are expecting twins! Two little boys. It's very excited, which is another reason we can add to the list of waiting them to move home!

I am going to try my best to update the blog each day so that our other family how lives in Colorado and Oklahoma can see what we are up too here in Minnesota!
